La Punta Viewpoint
From this viewpoint, you can enjoy an excellent view of Santa Catalina Beach, the old Hermigua Fishing Port, and the island of Tenerife.
This viewpoint is not only notable for its views of the sea and the beach, but also for the prominent presence of banana plantations that cover large areas of land in the area. These crops, which reach almost to the shore, are the agricultural heart of the island and one of the main productive activities of La Gomera.
In the background, the imposing Montaña del Hueco and Punta de Hermigua stand out, places of great natural and cultural value. At the foot of these mountainous formations, you can still see the pillars of the old jetty, a pier used in the past to load bananas, a testament to the history of the island and its connection to agriculture.
The Hermigua jetty, located in the place known as El Peñón, was built in 1907. After numerous vicissitudes, the green light was given to a modern and functional infrastructure that would enable the agricultural production of the Hermigua valley to be exported. In the mid-20th century, the jetties fell into disuse, but unlike those in Vallehermoso and Agulo, the Hermigua jetty was not destroyed by natural forces. Instead, its activity gradually ceased as changes were introduced in the socio-economic reality not only of the island, but also worldwide. The economic activity of the town declined to such an extent that the inhabitants found emigration to be the only means of subsistence. Today, four magnificent concrete pillars and the remains of the old crane are preserved on the coast, nestled in a beautiful spot on the coast of Hermigua.

But what really catches the eye is the horizon. From the viewpoint, Tenerife seems to be suspended in the air, with Mount Teide rising majestically above the ocean. This panoramic view offers a unique perspective of the natural beauty of the Canary Islands and is the perfect place for lovers of photography, hiking and those seeking an experience of connection with nature.

In the distance, you can also see the cliffs of La Campana and El Palmar, which belong to the Majona Natural Park. And behind our viewpoint, the Cabezo de Castilla and the Camacho cliff separate Hermigua from the municipality of Agulo.
